Camping Packing List.
A little preparation. A much easier weekend.
New to camping, or just worried you will forget something? Use our weekend camping checklist to pack for two nights at Bramley Park in East Sussex. Start with a dry tent, a warm bed and a simple food plan, then add the things that make your stay comfortable.
Your tent and a comfortable night
For a Friday-to-Sunday tent camping trip, these are the things to check first. Share bulky equipment with your group where you can.
☐ Tent with the right poles, pegs and guy ropes
☐ Mallet and a few spare pegs
☐ Sleeping bag or bedding suited to the forecast overnight temperature
☐ Sleeping mat, camping bed or airbed for each person
☐ The correct pump if your airbed or tent needs one
☐ Pillow, warm sleepwear and an extra blanket
☐ Torch or head torch, plus charged batteries
Try putting up your tent at home before your first trip. Check the contents of the bag, test your pump and make sure everyone has a comfortable place to sleep.
Clothes for a weekend outdoors
For two nights, pack clothes you can layer rather than a whole extra wardrobe. Even a sunny day can end with a chilly evening.
☐ Underwear and socks for each day, plus a spare pair of socks
☐ Comfortable daytime clothes and one spare outfit
☐ A warm jumper or fleece and a waterproof jacket
☐ Comfortable walking shoes, plus easy slip-on shoes for the facilities
☐ Warm, dry clothes to sleep in
☐ Sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for time outdoors
With children: add extra changes of clothes, their usual bedtime comfort item and any baby or toddler supplies. With a dog: bring a lead, waste bags, food, bowls and bedding; keep dogs on leads around the campsite.
Food, drinks and a simple camp kitchen
Keep meals easy: plan Friday dinner, two breakfasts, lunch and snacks, plus Saturday dinner. If you plan to eat out, check opening times before travelling and bring a back-up first-night meal.
☐ Drinking bottle and a refillable water container
☐ Food, snacks, tea or coffee and any milk you need
☐ Cool box and frozen ice packs for chilled food
☐ Camping stove and compatible fuel, if you plan to cook
☐ Pan, kettle and the utensils needed for your chosen meals
☐ Plates or bowls, mugs and cutlery
☐ Washing-up liquid, sponge and tea towel
☐ Rubbish bags and reusable food containers
Use camping stoves and barbecues outdoors, well away from tents. Never cook inside a tent or bring a barbecue inside, even after use: it can still give off carbon monoxide. Read our park rules before using a firepit or barbecue.
Wash kit, lighting and useful extras
Keep your everyday essentials in one easy-to-find bag. Pack a small torch where you can reach it when you arrive.
☐ Towel, toothbrush, toothpaste and your usual wash kit
☐ Soap or shower gel, shampoo and hand sanitiser
☐ Any personal medication and a small first-aid kit
☐ Charged phone, charging cable and power bank
☐ Torch or head torch for evening trips to the facilities
☐ Camping chairs; a small table if useful for your setup
☐ Bag for wet clothes, muddy shoes and laundry
☐ Cards, a book or a simple game for a quiet evening
Bramley Park has drinking water points, but no electric pitches or guest charging points. Charge your devices before leaving and plan to use a power bank. Check our facilities before deciding what to bring.
Staying in a furnished bell tent?
You can leave the tent and bedding at home. Our furnished bell tents are ready-pitched, with beds and linen provided. Check the equipment listed for your exact booking before packing duplicate cooking kit or furniture.
☐ Clothes, warm layers, waterproofs and comfortable shoes
☐ Towels, toiletries and your personal essentials
☐ Food, drinks, a cool box and ice packs as needed
☐ A charged power bank and a small torch for moving around after dark
Have a look at our glamping accommodation and your booking confirmation for the full inclusions. Bring the items that suit your own group, including children’s supplies or dog essentials.

Five checks before you leave home
1. Check the forecast, especially overnight temperatures and rain. Adjust your bedding and clothing.
2. Test your tent, pump, stove and lights. Check that fuel and batteries match your equipment.
3. Save your booking confirmation, arrival instructions and campsite map. Plan to arrive with time to pitch before dark.
4. Agree who is bringing shared kit. Keep first-night food, waterproofs and a torch easy to reach.
5. Check our park rules and facilities, then do one final sweep for medication, keys, wallet and phone.
